Experincing Holy Week – Part 2 – Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of Holy Week.

The three days of Holy Week are generally spent in preparation. There might be a Penitential service or a Paschal meal. Many parishes also organise groups to clean and prepare the church.

Holy Week started horribly for me. We had very little organised – no Palms. As a parish priest, this is always a difficult point in Holy week – and in any week – getting over the mentality that we are watching drama, not participating in the events of salvation. I was gutted yesterday. But I said what I needed to say and there seems to be much more of a buy in.
And then, to crown it all – builders have arrived… Of all days.

Looking forward to tonight’s Penitential service – when a parish priest realizes that he is not the centre of the universe! 😉

Such is the life of a Parish.
